Interior Design

Whether listed or unlisted, the architectural details and charming quirks of period properties make them unique and it can sometimes be overwhelming to make design decisions. It is very unusual to find a period house without any of the original details and I understand that it can be difficult to decide what to keep, add or get rid of when working on a design scheme for your heritage home.

With a degree in Heritage Interior Design and a passion for historic interiors, I can provide a contemporary, updated design while always respecting the building's history. By working closely with you and using what you already have, I'll help you make those difficult decisions while always respecting the building's history.

"I believe strongly that your period home shouldn't feel like a museum,
but rather include a good blend of period features, re-interpreted old furniture,
antique pieces, contemporary furniture and fittings... a tasteful mix of old and new."

Whether you're excited to start a new interior design project or you just need some friendly professional advice on your interior project, this consultation might be just what you've been looking for.

Do you need help deciding how to paint the walls, cornice and skirtings of your period home? Perhaps you don't know how to keep the history of the house alive within a new design scheme without creating a museum? Maybe you're unsure of whether or not you should replace the missing dado rail, or you simply feel overwhelmed by all the decisions to be made.

Perhaps you’re stuck on colour choices, can't decide on what to do with the too big living room, or maybe you're afraid of making expensive mistakes. It's an easy and affordable way to solve your interior design dilemmas or to simply improve the spaces in your home.

How does it work?

Phone or e-mail the studio to discuss your interior design dilemma(s) and the area(s) in your home that you find challenging.  We will ask you to answer a few questions and to provide some background information and images to help with research before our meeting. Should you then wish to proceed, an e-mail will be sent confirming arrangements for a consultation in your home at a mutually convenient time.

Louise will visit you in your home for up to two hours to give advice on colours, fabrics, furniture layouts, space planning or simply helping you with your own decorating ideas.

During our time together we'll talk about how to solve your design dilemmas, provide you with valuable professional advice and give you the design direction you need to fulfil the potential of your home.

The Design Solutions Consultation could be useful for:

  • paint colour choices

  • fabric choices

  • window treatment ideas

  • deciding on how best to use a space

  • lighting options

  • hardware selection

  • upholstery decisions

  • colour scheme

  • space planning

  • furniture selection

  • furniture re-arrangement

  • artwork placement

  • room decor discussions

Following the consultation, a digital report (PDF) containing all the points covered during the consultation will be sent by e-mail. Depending on the project, this report could include colour suggestions, furniture placement suggestions, fabric samples and so on.

£495 for a two hour in-house consultation, no VAT.

Invoiced with payment before our meeting.

Ongoing Project

Should you choose to engage Louise Booyens Interiors for a larger project, a fee proposal for my design fee will be provided. The fee proposal will include design and research time spent in the studio, sourcing and site visits.

Working Remotely

The Design Solutions Consultation can also be tailored as an online service for clients further afield. The only difference will be that we arrange to have a virtual consultation via Zoom. We will ask you to answer some questions and submit visual information, for example rough plans with measurements, photos and videos. A digital report (PDF) containing all the points covered during the consultation will be sent by e-mail. As before, this report could include colour suggestions, furniture placement suggestions, fabric samples and so on.
